Although Windows Vista had more features than Windows XP, it was not able to win hearts of customers as it doesn’t do anything you can’t already do with Windows XP.
According to the PC World Test Center, Windows 7 PCs are faster than Windows Vista PCs. They are quicker even on the netbooks with 2 GB of RAM. However, Windows 7 is a bit slower than XP on 1GB of RAM.
But there is a side of caution too – if your PC is capable of running Windows Vista then only you get Windows 7 otherwise avoid it.
The hardware requirements for 32-bit Windows 7 are: 1-GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of free disk space, and a graphical device compatible with DirectX-9.
The 64-bit of Windows 7 PC requires a 64-bit processor, 2GB of RAM and 20GB of disk space. Concerns over incompatible hardware and software is another reason to be sceptical of Microsoft newest software.
Generally speaking, Windows 7 is not different from Windows Vista, but it should reduce the difficulties relating to drivers and applications compared to the later. The main problem could crop up when you have to track down the drivers for you laptop or drivers that support Windows 7.
One challenge which applies equally to Macs and to Windows PCs is that they will break the system and some applications at first. The best way to reduce problems is to wait for some time. When the operating system comes on October 22, let the other firms discover the issues, fixed most of them and after that you can happily upgrade to Windows 7 !
