Microsoft® Windows® 7: A boon for IT professionals
Microsoft has designed Windows 7 to address several problems being faced by IT professionals regarding performance, device compatibility, reliability and security.
It is especially structured to make everyday tasks easier which helps to increase the productivity and enhanced users experience. As that operating system is designed on the foundation same as Windows server 2008 and Windows Vista, it remains compatible with the application and devices as used in Windows Vista.
Windows 7 is engineered in keeping in view the basics such as performance, application compatibility, device compatibility, reliability, and security. But the most important features to be included for IT Professionals is the improvement in manageability and security. Windows 7 also includes client operating system that provides tools and monitoring capabilities which are not available in the earlier versions.
IT Professionals usually face problem in maintaining a standard configuration. In Windows Vista, the User Account Control (UAC) does not allow the unauthorized changes to the configuration and enabled more organizations to set their users to standard user mode, but in Windows 7 it is further advanced by reducing the number of prompts. Group Policy is also redesigned to the broad benefit of the users. Updating mobile PC create many problems to IT professionals, keeping all this in view Windows 7 will introduce Direct Access which will allow them to update Internet connect PC easily. The Powershell and graphical editor will prove to be highly useful to the IT professional which will help them to perform repetitive tasks with minimal developmental expertise.
Windows 7 is built with an enhanced User Account Control which provides more flexibility and works on simpler notification. User Account Control has been improved so that the user don't need to make many changes. BitLocker To Go has been introduced for data protection which extends the encryption to removable drives and provides greater control over information. With improvement in Firewall profiles, IT professionals have more control over the specific applications.
Deployment has also been improved in Windows 7 with advances such as Dynamic Driver Provisioning, the Deployment Image Service and Management tool. User state migration has also been enhanced.
