5 reasons why you should sync your Windows Phone with your PC
Nowadays, we use a smartphone for more than just to make or receive calls. With the wide range of features and services offered by phones, the portable devices have become an integral part of our digital lives. Mobiles with Microsoft’s operating system Windows Phone 7 are truly people’s phones. They have Live Tiles with updates from various social networks displayed right on the home screen.
It’s not only that the phones help us to stay connected, they have also become storehouses of large amount of data in the form of contacts, pictures, documents, mails, and lots more stuff. To make things easier and productive, it becomes important to sync our Windows Phone with our PC, and here’s why:
1. Keep track of your contacts and schedules
If you maintain separate lists of contacts and appointments on your Windows Phone 7 mobile and PC, you will have to update any changes or additions that you make on both of them. Otherwise, you won’t have the updated info on one of the platforms.
Consider this scenario: While working on your laptop, you scheduled a meeting with a client and added this appointment on Microsoft Office Outlook. But didn’t update this on your Windows Phone. Well, if you’re not carrying your laptop, you might just forget about the meeting. In situations like these, syncing your Windows Phone and your PC can really be useful. What’s more, it becomes really easy if you’ve a Windows 7 PC.
2. Work from anywhere on your documents
If you sync your Windows Phone with your computer, you can access your documents on the go, make changes, and have the updated versions on the mobile as well as the PC. All this is possible with the Office Hub in Windows Phone 7. It enables you to open, edit and save files in mobile versions of Microsoft Office applications. Just sync your Office files with SkyDrive, login to your Windows Live account, and work on your documents.
3. Import browser bookmarks from your PC to your Windows Phone
Quite often we wish that the browser favorites and bookmarks that we have on your PC should also be there on our mobile. Just download the Opera browser on your computer, import browser favorites/bookmarks, enable synchronization, and register for the Opera Link account. Now download the Opera Link app from Windows Phone Marketplace on your mobile. Through this, you can access the browser bookmarks on your computer on your Windows Phone. 5. Back up your Windows Phone data
What if you lost your mobile or the data on it got corrupted? As a precautionary measure, it’s best to sync your Windows Phone with your computer and back up all data. This can prove quite useful in restoring important files, contacts, photos, etc., which were there on your mobile. It’s all the more easy with a Windows Live account. Just login with your user ID and password, back up your data, and access it from your Windows 7 computer.
So, sync your Windows Phone with your computer and always stay connected.
