Customize your Windows 7 shutdown process
What is the biggest reason that stops you from shutting down your Windows 7 computer? Can you remember the last time you had actually shut down your PC to save power and increase the life span of your machine? One of the biggest improvements that Windows made to its Windows 7 operating system is its lightening fast start-up, but apparently it failed to customize its shutdown process.
We usually let our system perform certain tasks and actions when it’s idle, like installing updates, complete system scan, and bulk of torrent downloads. But once the job is done, your system is left unattended for hours together, reducing the lifespan of your PC. However, there are some freeware PC shut down utilities that can help you schedule your PC shutdown time according to your requirements.
Let’s take a look at these powerful software:
A shutdown utility that automatically performs a number of operations while you are away, including reboot, hibernate, log off, lock, sleep, and more. It can also turn off your monitor or trigger an alarm. The program performs extensive operations, allowing you to schedule things according to your requirements. Shutter allows you to trigger a message, forcing a program to run or close, in addition to a normal shutdown message.
Another freeware Windows service that lets you automatically suspend, shutdown, hibernate, or wake-up your computer based on a custom schedule. SmartPower allow you to set custom values for CPU usage, network activity, and also allows you to set programs that if running, should delay the shutdown process.
A simple program that allows you to automatically shut down or restart your computer once the countdown timer has elapsed. The freeware can also be used to logoff, disconnect, or hibernate your computer once all the actions have been successfully completed. The program functions on four trigger controls - at a certain time, after a certain time, when disconnected from the Internet, or when the CPU usage goes down. The program runs in the system tray and gives you a warning message 5-60 seconds prior to performing the shutdown action.
All three applications are completely portable and easy to use. These utilities allow you to control your PC operations, helping you manage your PC completely while you are away from it.
