Steve Ballmer: 400 million Windows® 7 Licenses Sold
400 million! The number is certainly staggering, but asserts the “fly away” success of Windows 7 OS in the past two years. In a recent Worldwide Partner Conference 2011; Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft Corporation announced that 400 million Windows 7 licenses have been sold so far. This statement by Steve Ballmer underlines that fact that Windows 7 OS is the fastest selling OS in history.
“Windows 8 will mimic the same success story of Windows 7, but with a tinge of Cloud Computing”
Microsoft Windows OS has been the flagship product for revenue generation for Microsoft. Though Windows Vista lacked the demand in sales with the Windows OS user audience, Windows 7 has proven to recover the lost sales that Microsoft had with Windows Vista. This has been due to the high sales rate of Windows 7 in just two years.
What does this mean for Windows 8?
The success of Windows 7 sales has now clearly opened the path for Windows 8, which is said to debut in 2012. With the introduction of many new features in Windows 7 including Windows Live and a better performing OS, Windows 8 may also see a high sales trend pattern. The build of Windows 8 is expected by next year, which will give analysts some ideas as to what Windows 8 might offer.
Apart from the expectation from Windows 8, Windows 7 has proven to be the leading flagship program for Microsoft. It will now want to “clone” the same success story in terms of creating a value driven system which is said to come from cloud computing.
