Angry birds: Now on your Microsoft® Windows Phone 7
Angry birds, dubbed the “the largest mobile app success the world has seen so far” by MIT Entrepreneur has finally made its way to your Windows Phone 7. Prior to this, the game was available on Android, iPhone, and Chrome amongst a few other platforms.
The pigs are making a run for it as the birds get angrier and angrier, spreading across all your gadgets for the kill. The combination of a simple yet highly addictive game play has made this game one of the biggest runaway hits of 2010, with its influence not just restricted to playing itself but spreading in popular culture too. You have tweet-ups, theme parties, and even stuffed toys based on those grumpy birds from the game. It’s finding routes into our collective mindsets in a way that has been compared to Micky Mouse and Mario.
You’re equally likely to catch a businessman slinging away stones on his iPhone while boarding a flight at an airport as you are to see a geeky teenager cross level after level on his Android and finally celebrating his winning the game as the remains of a fulfilled Sunday. If you prefer Windows Phone 7 over other mobile operating systems and have been missing all the bird-cooing, mud-slinging action, your waiting is over. Microsoft and Rovio had hinted at a 2011 release earlier and they’ve had their share of tiffs and disagreements online but it seems like they got their act together. As they should have considered an army of hungry fans waiting for it with their Windows phones all charged up. You will be able to find a copy of Angry Birds on your local Zune store now.
