AppWave App Store launched for Windows® OS
An app store for computer systems powered by Windows operating systems has been launched by Embarcadero Technologies, a company that provides database and developer tools.
The app store named AppWave has been designed to bring the mobile app experience to desktop and notebook computer systems. The app store software is easy to install and remove. Though Microsoft has its own app store, but it offers apps only for the upcoming Windows 8 platform.
To access AppWave, you need to download and install the store's free custom browser. It allows you to browse the outlet's offerings, as well as install and remove them from your computer. It will also notify you when there is an upgrade available for an app, although it won't upgrade the app automatically for you.
The apps offered by AppWave at present include all the free programs that can be downloaded from elsewhere on the Internet. They include Microsoft OpenOffice, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Evernote, Angry Birds, and Picasa.
