Big in Japan Inc. has launched ShopSavvy app for your Windows Phone 7. It will allow shoppers to scan barcodes and check out prices of the products before they buy anything. This app is also available on the Android phones and iPhones. You can download ShopSavvy app for free from the Windows Phone Marketplace.
So how do you become ShopSavvy with the app?
To scan a new product, you need to click on the scan barcode button. As soon as you click it, the camera will open automatically. Take a picture of the barcode of the product you need information on. Automatic scan would start and provide you with price and other information. It will show you the prices of the product from different stores as well. You can also look at the product reviews given by other people.
Using the GPS feature of your Windows Phone, the app can show you the location of the stores on the map. You can browse from shop to shop and check out their websites directly from your handset. It further shows you the distance of the shop from your place.
You can follow the same steps for scanning barcodes of other products. Once you are done with the scan, it will show records on your history page, so you do not have to scan for the same product for a second time.
ShopSavvy app supports different formats such as UPC (Universal Product Code), EAN (International Article Number), and QR (Quick Response) codes.
