Taiwanese firm HTC has given the Chinese nationals their first official Windows Phone, the HTC Triumph. HTC Triumph is the same HTC phone that is known outside China as HTC Titan. In short, one can say that HTC Triumph is the fully localized Chinese version of the HTC Titan.
HTC has opened its very first Chinese flagship store in Beijing. The company has even started taking in pre-orders for the US$ 700 HTC Titan. The HTC Triumph will run Windows Phone 7.5 mobile operating system, which is also known as ‘Tango’.
HTC has assured that the social media integration will be a part and parcel of the overall package. Facebook and Twitter are removed, and replaced with their Asian equivalents, called Sina Weibo and Tencent, and SkyDrive for cloud computing. China disallows the use of Twitter and Facebook, due to concerns with filtering and content controls.
Other than HTC and Nokia, LG and ZTE too are anticipated to be releasing Windows Phone ‘Tango’ handsets in China this month.
