Mangoes are Good
Microsoft is trying to do something that’s different. First, they surprised us with the Windows Phone 7 OS, which is of course refreshingly different from earlier versions of its mobile operating system. The features and interface are improved. They have been thinking about building something new for a while now. The new Windows Phone 7 update, codenamed Mango, has some promising features. If you are already in love with your Windows phone, this will make you fall in love all over again.
Live Tiles are the first things you would notice different on the home screen. These Live Tiles are apps which are pinned to the home screen and are constantly updated. Pin a contact to the home screen and Live Tile will show their updates from various social networking sites. The second thing which you’ll notice is organized communication threads. Conversations with a single person by SMS, email, messenger and everything else are shown under a single thread and you don’t have to open different apps to link messages anymore! When it comes to E-mails forget the pain of logging in to various accounts. E-mail manager integrates your mails from different accounts and shows them all in one place.
Local Scout recognizes your location and tells you almost everything that is good about your neighborhood. Apart from suggesting restaurants, stores, and many other things, it also has a page for “don’t miss” specials in your locality. Another key feature in this update is called Bing Vision. This feature allows visual searches. If you click a picture of a book, it will retrieve information about the book from the Internet, like reviews, places where it is available for sale and price of the book.
Note that these are not apps that you have to download or pay for. These cool features are a few of the new features that Microsoft is giving away with the Mango update. This is the sweetest news we’ve received from Microsoft this year.
