Microsoft tests curved onscreen keyboard for Windows Phone 8
At the Windows Phone developers’ summit, Microsoft announced its new mobile operating system – Windows Phone 8. It will be based on the NT kernel and will have several new features. Among some of the innovations that Microsoft has lined up for Windows Phone 8 include support for multi-core processors, NFC wireless sharing, higher screen resolutions, etc. If a report from WMPoweruser is true, Microsoft could well be testing a new keyboard interface for Windows Phone 8.
A leaked image from a Microsoft presentation shows a curved onscreen keyboard being demoed on the HTC Trophy smartphone. It looks like a combination of the conventional QWERTY keyboard and the keypad of a phone. This new type of an arc-shaped keyboard is basically designed to type using just one thumb.
The new feature could also be included in the Windows Phone 7.8 update for the existing users of Windows Phone 7. The new keyboard is in testing stage and there hasn’t been any official word from Microsoft.
