Microsoft Press has released the tutorial videos by Mike Halsey covering all the topics on Windows 7 and Microsoft Word. For those of you who might be wondering who Mike Halsey is? He is the author of Troubleshooting Windows 7 Inside out and Windows 7 Power Users Guide . He writes for Microsoft Press and also writes for his own website. He is Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) for Windows Expert (Consumer) from the UK.
Few months back, Mike Halsey got an assignment from his publisher, Microsoft Press, to make tutorial videos for their step-by-step books. And now, Microsoft wants to make use of these tutorial videos by releasing them on YouTube. The best thing is that they are releasing these videos for free. Some tutorial videos on Windows 7 and Microsoft Word 2007 are already released; you can find them on YouTube. Microsoft Press has also released video tutorials on Excel 2010 by another author.
Microsoft Press in a press release said, “We’re pretty excited to unveil nearly fifteen hours of free video instruction, based on three of our most popular recent Microsoft Press Step by Step title releases. The videos are based on, but not exact copies of, each book; there’s material in the videos that you won’t find in the books, and vice versa.
Why free? We’d like to know what you think of these and if you find them helpful. We all learn in different ways, and if there’s enough demand for video editions or companions to existing Microsoft Press books, we’ll certainly consider making the commitment to produce more. We’re even open to the possibility of creating learning resources exclusively in video.”
The tutorial videos are for about 4 hours each. Microsoft Press has also plans of releasing more videos in the near future if they get good response from the users. So, if you like their videos and find them helpful, don’t forget to comment on their videos which are available on YouTube for free.
