Microsoft to release security updates for Windows
Microsoft has issued an advance notification that it will release updates to fix 23 security vulnerabilities in various versions of Windows operating systems and other products. According to theÂ Microsoft Security BulletinÂ Advance Notification, the updates will be released on May 8, 2012. Along with the security patches, Microsoft will also make available an updated version of the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool.
A total of 7 bulletins aimed at fixing 23 security risks associated with Windows, Microsoft Office, Silverlight, and .NET Framework will be released. The affected Windows operating system versions include Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.Â Out of 7 bulletins, 3 of them will be rated critical because of high risk of remote code execution. The remaining bulletins will include patches for loopholes that can result in code execution of privilege escalation attacks.
It is recommended that all users of Windows and other products for which the updates are being released by Microsoft, should download and install the patches.
