Nokia® chooses few countries for Windows® Phone launch
There are very few lucky countries that will witness the launch of Nokia Windows Phones. We all know how Nokia is touting about Windows Phones. However, in the latest statement, they said that as of now, rather than initiating a global launch, the corporation is focusing upon launching the initial lot of handsets only in few selected markets.
The pre-determined and selected debut of the phones might surprise all those who are waiting for them. The Chief Executive at Nokia, Stephan Elop said: "We are being very deliberate in the sequence. It is a significant shift in the organization for how we sell and how we manufacture; there is quite a long list of things to do."
In the list of things to do, he referred to adding language support for various countries, operator billing, and marketplace capabilities.
The chief factor is that Nokia doesn't want to end the business with Symbian OS - the operating system in all the smartphones till now. However, Elop has apparently decided to phase out the same.
"We're very thoughtful about how we first launch Windows Phone relative to where Symbian is strong so we get the right balance and right dynamics," Elop said.
Windows Phone OS is indeed a big fish that swallowed the small fishes MeeGo and Symbian. Microsoft will be paying Nokia for all the marketing initiatives as well.
