Rugged Mobile Systems launches Windows® 7-based in-vehicle computer
Rugged Mobile Systems has introduced an all-in-one in-vehicle Windows-based computer system called NEXCOM VMC 1000. Having a touchscreen monitor of 7-inch display and telematics support, the mobile computer system can run on Windows XP and Windows 7 operating systems.
Designed specifically for in-vehicle use, the NEXCOM VMC 1000 is a fully integrated rugged and vibration-resistant computer system with in-built features, such as GPS navigation, various options for wireless communication and a direct link to vehicle telematics using its onboard CANbus interface. Measuring only 18.5 cm wide x 5 cm high x 14 cm deep, the compact size of NEXCOM VMC enables it to fit easily in the smallest of available spaces while keeping the vehicle dashboard free of clutter.
It is only because of its compact design that it is an ideal choice for mobile operations in a wide range of vehicles. In addition to its general-purpose use, the ability to collect vehicle and driver performance data automatically also makes it an ideal platform to support fuel and operational efficiency initiatives across all fleet operators.
