In a benchmark comparison between Ubuntu 11.10 and Windows 7, Tom’s Hardware has come to a conclusion that Ubuntu 11.10 is better than Windows 7. Windows 7 was tested against Ubuntu 11.10 under six test categories named: Start and stop times, File copy times, Archiving, Multimedia, System, and Gaming.
The result was that Ubuntu 11.10 emerged as the winner in three categories, whereas Windows 7 was the loser in all categories. In gaming, which is often suggested as one of the most compelling reasons to use Windows 7, Ubuntu and Windows 7 were even.
Ubuntu 11.10 was launched in October 2011 by Canonical. The operating system is build upon the foundation that was laid in Ubuntu 11.04. There are many changes within Ubuntu 11.10, but they all are upgrades. It means there is nothing new in Ubuntu 11.10. Ubuntu 11.10 was code named ‘Oneiric Ocelot’.
