There is a good piece of news for Windows Phone users who use Skype to make video calls to their distant friends and relatives. The Skype app for Windows Phone has come out of its beta state and upgraded to the version 1.0.
The Skype app is available free for download for all Windows Phone 7.5 or higher phones, and it will work over both Wi-Fi and 3G networks. The app was originally available as a beta app on the Windows Marketplace since February this year. But, just under two months, it has hit version 1.0.
The version 1.0 of Skype app comes with the ability to search for and add new contacts as well as the ability to call landlines. The only thing that is lacking in this latest version of Skype is that there is no support for background calling. In other words, the only way you can receive a call is if you have the app open and running, you cannot let it run in the background and receive calls.
