Windows® 7 64-bit editions preferred by PC gamers
Steam, which is an online gaming platform from Valve Corporation, undertakes a monthly survey to get data about the type of computer hardware and software used by customers. According to the results of Steam’s survey for March 2012, the 64-bit version of Windows 7 is now used by a majority of their subscribers. In March, around 53.91 percent of Steam users had the 64-bit version of Windows 7 installed on their PCs. This was an increase of 10.89 percent in comparison to February.
The second most used operating system was Windows XP (32-bit) while the 32-bit version of Windows 7 was at the third position. In the survey, it was also found that 31.21 percent of Steam users have 5 GB or more RAM on their computers.
If you have a PC with a 64-bit-capable processor, you can install the 64-bit version of Windows 7 to make the most out of the chip’s power. For playing high-end graphics games, it’s recommended to use Windows 7 64-bit.
