Windows® 7-based tablet might be launched by Sony®
According to a report published by the website PocketNow, Sony might soon launch a Windows 7-based tablet under the VAIO U brand name. The design of this laptop was showcased as a concept at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that was held earlier this year.
Sony has officially not yet confirmed the date of tablet release. Regarding the tablet’s tech specs, it will reportedly include an Intel processor, a stylus, and also a slide-out keyboard.
It seems that Sony is moving toward adopting Microsoft’s operating systems and maybe there could be a Windows Phone in the offing. In the past, officials at Sony had said that they would wait and see how Microsoft’s mobile operating system (Windows Phone) evolves and is received by customers.
In January 2012, there were leaked images of a Sony Ericsson prototype with Windows Phone 7. If the rumors are true, we could see Sony introducing mobile devices with Windows 8 later in 2012.
