Windows 7 market share increased to 38 percent in April
The global market share of Windows 7 is steadily increasing as it rose to 38.67 percent in April 2012. In comparison, Windows 7 accounted for 37.54 percent of the operating system market in March 2012.
According to statistics provided byÂ Net Applications, the downward slide of Windows XP is evident but it still continues to be the most popular operating system worldwide with 46.08 percent market share in April.
The official Microsoft support for Windows XP is scheduled to expire on April 8, 2014. After this, Microsoft will no longer release updates for Windows XP. The company itself is trying to make people aware that they should upgrade Windows XP to Windows 7.
As more and more computer users move to Windows 7, the market share of the operating system is likely to increase. Windows 8 is slated to be released in 2012 and it could be a game changer in the operating systems market in the next few years.
