Windows 7 is now the most popular operating system in the UAE as it moved ahead of Windows XP in terms of the market share in the Gulf. In a report published by StatCounter, it was stated that Windows 7 had a 40.57% market share, followed by Windows XP with a 39.21% market share in the UAE. Windows Vista occupied the third position with a share of 13.93 percent. This shows that more and more people and businesses are embracing Windows 7, which is most probably due to the advanced features and security enhancements in the operating system.
According to Aodhan Cullen, the chief executive officer of StatCounter, "Windows 7 overtook its 10-year-old sibling XP globally for the first time in October, but XP has retained tremendous loyalty over the last decade. However, it looks like the younger Windows 7 is now emerging in the Cinderella role.” In the past year, there has been a significant increase in the market share of Windows 7. Analysts are expecting that the sales of Windows XP will decrease, while that of Windows 7 will increase, as the launch of Windows 8 draws closer.
