Windows® Azure: A Cloud Computing Medium
Just as without any mobile tower, you cannot make a call and without any servers, companies cannot share data. In a similar way, Cloud Computing requires a platform to run Windows applications and storing data. Cloud Computing technology has set-off to embark on a journey in the clouds, to make new landmarks in the IT field. Windows Azure is here for the sole aim of providing this medium, by acting as an operating system for the Windows Cloud. It provides a simple and easy-to-manage system for companies to migrate their existing apps to the Cloud.
Windows Azure platform can be used to develop new applications and improve the existing applications using Cloud-based technology. It allows developers to create solutions and applications in the Cloud with several programming languages. Windows Azure applications run on Microsoft data centers, so you don’t require a software installation and directly run them on the computer. With Windows Azure, you will be able to write a web role using ASP.NET and Visual Basic and add-ins for Visual Studio.
The key components of Windows Azure Services Platform include:-
- Low-level scalable storage, computation and networking
- SQL Services for server reporting and SQL Azure data
- Microsoft .NET Services which are service-based implementations of familiar .NET Framework concepts, such as workflow and access control
- Live Services provides easy way to store, share, and synchronize documents, photos, files and information on PCs, phones, PC applications, and web sites
