Windows on USB stick has been once again introduced by Imation in the market. It is now renamed as Stealth Zone Microsoft Windows Embedded Standard (MWES). With the help of this product, users can carry the Windows operating system around on a USB stick, or boot into a secure Windows 7 or Windows XP shell from a host computer system.
The innovative thing in this re-introduced product is the cold booting approach that dispenses with the need for virtualization, ideal for remote workers who need to wall off their home and work use of Windows. The technology incorporated in this product can facilitate the user to configure device drivers automatically and, unlike virtualized alternatives, imposes no memory or resource limitations while encrypting user data.
Explaining the importance of this product, Nick Banks of Imation’s Mobile Security division says, “With more employees working outside of the office, organizations are looking for ways to capture the benefits of the mobile workforce, while at the same time empowering and securing mobile workers.”
