David Rook alias Security Ninja, the renowned author of Agnitio, the highly acclaimed security code review tool has officially released Windows Phone App Analyser version 1.0. The app can be used to properly evaluate Windows Phone 7 apps that have a focus on specific security issues.
This Windows Phone App Analyser version 1.0 also helps in evaluating Windows Phone 7 .xap files. Additionally, it also supports and rearranges all the .dll files within them.
The various other functions that the app analyzer does are:
• It decompiles Windows Phone .xap application automatically that further helps in easily analyzing the original source code.
• The application source code is analyzed and the main keywords are explained since these can also require further investigation from the point of view of security.
• One can also launch and review results from third-party scanning tools (CAT.NET, FxCop and the capabilities detection tool in v1.0).
Security Ninja wrote in his blog: “The main reason I wanted to do the WP7 app development was to increase my knowledge about the WP7 application development and submission process. I have done a lot of mobile security research and even presented about Android and iOS security but I did not want to assume that knowledge would apply to WP7 so I got my hands dirty with some app development!”
What’s more, the Windows Phone App Analyser can also be used by the researchers for running Microsoft Capabilities Detection tool. You can get more details from Security Ninja Blog.
