A localized version of the Windows Phone 7.6 operating system, code-named as ‘Tango’, is anticipated to arrive in the Chinese market in March this year. According to local Chinese reports, this latest mobile operating system from Microsoft will come in devices from at least four manufacturers.
The Chinese people will have to content with a localized version of Windows Phone 7.6 instead of the full version. Adhering to the strict guidelines of China, the localized version will come sans many popular services and features, such as XBOX Live, Twitter, and Facebook. Even Bing, the default search engine in all Windows Phones, is reported to be replaced by Baidu, which is the most commonly used search engine in China.
It is expected that the popular microblogging service Twitter will be replaced by Sina Weibo, while Facebook will be substituted by the Chinese social networking platforms, such as RenRen and Kaixin. Also, XBOX Live will be removed from the Games Hub as XBOX LIVE was never launched officially in mainland China.
According to WPDang, a Chinese tech portal; Nokia, HTC, LG, and ZTE will be launching specific devices targeted at the Chinese market.
