Since the launch of Windows Phone 7 last year, Microsoft has been trying to incorporate the unique Xbox LIVE capabilities in it. Well, now the gamers in Europe can use their Windows Phone 7 to access Xbox LIVE Marketplace and Xbox LIVE Micro-Transactions the way they could access from Xbox 360 console itself.
The first Xbox LIVE enabled Windows Phone 7 game app is Birds & Beaks, which is completely designed and developed in Microsoft Game Studios. This launch has brought numerous new additions to the previously available Xbox LIVE content on mobiles. One of the significant features is the micro-transaction system. Users will now be able to use their Microsoft Points associated with their Xbox LIVE account for the first time on the mobile format.
In Birds & Beaks, users have numerous special powers to defend their gnomes from birds. However, to use these special powers, users need to use the limited stock of mushrooms. To refill their mushroom stock, users need to simply complete a series of levels. In case the mushroom stock gets finished, the users won’t be able to use special powers anymore. The only way out will be purchasing a new supply using their Microsoft Points, which users can get using Xbox LIVE Micro Transactions.
There is a small token amount to get this as the micro-transaction system in Birds & Beaks. The idea behind this clearly seems to Microsoft’s focus on further development of other mobile based functionalities of Xbox LIVE where Microsoft Points will be required to purchase future Xbox LIVE enabled Windows Phone 7 games.
