What are the different causes of limited access and Internet connection issues?
The network connection in Windows 7 is much faster. But problems are common in the network connection of any system. Several issues might arise out of which most can be resolved easily. While trying to set up or make network connections in your computer, you might come across a limited or no connectivity error message saying “The connection has limited or no connectivity. You might be unable to access the Internet or some network resources”. There are various reasons for this error message. One such reason is the presence of bugs in the system that stop you from accessing the network. Other causes are the Network or DSL router may have bad or missing information, the cable that you are using might not be good, there could be improper configuration of network card, the issue could arise due to firewall settings. The corrupted TCP/IP issues also cause the network connection problem.
Following are the tips to resolve limited access and Internet connection issues in Windows 7:
- Non–functional network access
- DHCP configuration problems
- Network card issue
Non–functional network access
If your system connects to the network through a broadband router, reset the router which might help resolve this issue easily. If your system is connected using Wi-Fi and wireless security, check whether your WEP or other security key is set properly. Also check for the wireless security configuration in your computer's network adapter and update it if necessary. If the network is connected using Ethernet cable, your cable might have failed. So, you could temporarily replace your network cable and check whether the problem is solved. Also check the IP address to verify whether it is valid.
DHCP configuration problems
If DHCP configuration issue is the cause, reboot your computer, router, and broadband modem together. Then, check the connection. If the connection remains non-functional, run the Windows Network Repair utility in your computer. Try updating your router settings to change it from dynamic to static IP address configuration. Then set an IP address in the computer appropriately. If the problem persists, contact your Internet provider for support.
The user could check the network card to make sure that it is configured properly and is working better. Sometimes, setting the network card to 10Mbps/Full Duplex would help solve this issue. For this, open 'Control Panel', then select 'System', and from there, choose 'Device Manager'. Then go to the 'Properties' of the Network card, click on the 'Advanced' tab, and find the Link Speed and Duplex section. You could change it from Auto Detect to 10Mbps/Full Duplex.
