Add ‘Downloads’ folder to the Start Menu on Windows 7
The Downloads folder is the default location of all files that are downloaded on your PC. When you attempt to download a file on your PC from the Internet or from any other source, Windows 7 will typically save it in this folder, unless you specify a different location. Although, typically this folder is present in the drive where your OS is located, it may be a time-consuming task to access it, every time you have to refer to or use a downloaded file. By adding this folder to the Start menu, you can customize your Windows 7-based PC in a way where you will have most of the folders and files saved just a click away.
Here are the simple steps that you can follow to add the ‘Downloads’ folder to the Start menu on your Windows 7 PC:
1. Right click on the ‘Start’ button and then click on ‘Properties’.
2. The Start Menu Properties window will come up. Now, click on the ‘Customize’ option.
3. Scroll down and under the ‘Downloads’ category and select the ‘Display as a Link’ option.
4. Click on ‘OK’ twice.
5. The Downloads folder is now added to the Start Menu.
Now that you have the folder present in the Start menu, you can easily access it, anytime you want. Also by having this folder at a click’s access you can better manage your downloads ¬– rename them, shift their default location, and so on.
