What is a registry in Windows 7?

Back up the registry

Click 'Export' and click the 'Save' button. You can back up the file in any location of your choice.
Modify the registry
Please follow the instructions mentioned above to open registry editor. When Window opens and after you have backed up your registry, you can modify your Windows registry to tune Windows to behave the way you want. While you open the Windows registry, you will see two sides on Window, on the left side of the registry Window, you will see a tree with folders and when you look at the right side you will see the contents of the selected key. Expand the branch using (+) sign. If you want to uninstall software manually, move your mouse to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_" and then select software and then select a program you want to uninstall. By this method, you can bring in modification that you want to a particular hardware or even devices connected to your computer.
Go to start menu from your taskbar, enter “SystemPropertiesProtection” in the search bar and press the return key. If you are prompted with a system username and password, please provide it or click 'Allow' or 'Yes' to run the program. The System Properties box will now appear on your screen. By default the system protection tab will appear if not, navigate your mouse to it. Then press the system restore point, this will prompt the system to restore to the previously backed up windows registry. Now, you can restart the computer and when the desktop loads after restart you need to click on 'OK' in the confirmation page.
