Windows® 7 ClearType® Tuner
ClearType Tuner is a very useful features for the people who have eyesight problems as it reduces the strain on the eyes by making the text relatively clearer. Reading lengthy pieces become easier with this technology. It tries to enhance the appearance of the text. This feature makes the text smoother and darker to the extent you want. Even if you want to make the text blur, you can do so.
Although the technology is meant for LCD display but it may also enhance the visual with CRT display. By default, ClearType is enabled and if you further want to increase the precision of the text that appears on your screen, it can be done. Starting with Windows 7, Microsoft has combined the tuner utility to fine tune ClearType settings.
ClearType tuner in Windows 7 is a new control panel component which uses multiple samples of ClearType to make adjustments to the ClearType algorithms. Each wizard page tunes a criterion such as monitor gamma, your sensitivity to color artifacts, and your preference for letter heaviness. To access the ClearType Text Tuner is quite simple.
You can access the ClearType Text Tuner by any of the following ways:
1. Type CTTUNE in Start menu search and click on CTTUNE
2. Through the directory address C:\windows\System32
3. Through Command Prompt: The cttune.exe in command prompt
The wizard screen will appear.
1 You can enable and disable the tuner by clicking on the Turn on ClearType check box.
2 Click Next
1. Choose the sample text block that suits you best and then click Next.
2. Click Finish.
