Issues with cursors
The issues happening with cursors like hanging of computer with black screen can be easily resolved through simple methods. Most often, the reason could be an attack by a virus or any spyware that takes up the ownership of your system files, thereby not letting you to boot up properly. So the resolution to this issue is to take the hard drive of the affected machine and put it into another machine that is working flawlessly. Then make sure that the other machine has a good antivirus software because you have to do a full scan. Sometimes, you would have to reformat the drive to clean it out and reinstall.
To install cursors, first download cursors for Windows 7 from any available site and then extract the cursors to your hard drive. You shall do it using WinRAR and you can also use the built-in Windows zip-program. If you want to memorize where the cursors are, you should extract the cursors to the folder 'C:/Windows/Cursors/'. Now you would need to open the 'Control panel', then the 'Start menu' and click on it. After that, double click on 'Mouse'. Then you would have to replace the default Windows 7 cursors with your new cursors. To do that, open the tab 'Mouse Pointers' and then click on the first cursor in the list. Click on 'Browse' and locate the folder where you have saved your cursors. You would have to select a fresh cursor for each mouse gesture. Repeat this step for all mouse gestures that you want.
Windows 7 has a fine set of mouse pointers or default aero cursor set. But if you wish to replace them with a customized set, open 'C:WindowsCursors' folder and create a new folder called 'NewCursors'. Then place your new cursor .cur files in this folder. With the help of 'Control Panel', open 'Mouse applet' and click on the 'Properties' tab. Select Windows Aero (system scheme) in the Scheme list (if not already selected). Then click on the 'Save As' button and name your new scheme as 'NewCursors' and click 'OK'. In the Customize list, choose the 'Normal Select' cursor and click 'Browse'. Go to C:WindowsCursorBullseye, then select the appropriate file for the appropriate mouse gesture, click 'Open' and then click 'Apply'. You should do so with each file for every mouse gesture. For example, check out Bull’s Eye Mouse Cursor. In the 'Customize' list, select the 'Normal Select' cursor and click 'Browse'; then select 'C:WindowsCursorBullseyeBullseye_select.cur' and click the 'Open' button. Do the same steps for 'Precision Select' cursor, 'text select' cursor, and 'link select cursor'. Next open the 'Control Panel' applet and from its drop down menu, pick the newly installed cursors, click 'Apply' and then 'OK'.
