Description of desktop sharing in Windows® 7
What are the various ways to share desktop in Windows 7?
Desktop sharing or screen sharing software makes life easier for both the users and the Administrators. It not only supplies technical support to users, but it is also a way to share data and collaborate with others remotely, quickly, and easily. Windows Desktop Sharing is a multiple-party screen-sharing technology. The key scenarios comprise remote assistance, real-time collaboration and conferencing, and video communication. With Remote Desktop Services, a session is created all the time when a user connects remotely through Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). With Windows Desktop Sharing, a local desktop can be transmitted over an RDP connection without making an extra session. Windows Desktop Sharing is available from Windows Vista Operating System onwards. Windows Desktop Sharing is meant for developers of applications that integrate screen sharing functionality. The two participants in Windows Desktop Sharing are the sharer and the viewer. The sharer is the system whose screen is being shared out, whereas the viewer is the system that can view the screen of the sharer.

Some tools for sharing
With the help of desktop sharing, numerous people in diverse locations around the country can work on a presentation or a project plan simultaneously from their desktop computers. One of the software used for this purpose is yuuguu. It is easy to use and you can use it to remotely access your PC or MAC as well. Above all, it is completely free and allows you to instantly share your screen with anyone. It works well through firewalls as well. Another one is CrossLoop, which is also very easy to use but it requires that each party installs the CrossLoop software onto their computers. This application uses 128-bit encryption and allows file sharing. LogMeIn, showmypc.com, SkyFex, TeamViewer etc are some other types of software used for this purpose.
Windows Remote Desktop sharing can also be enabled or disabled from the registry. This method is especially helpful when you want to enable Remote Desktop remotely. Hence, you can connect to the registry of the remote computer through remote registry and make changes. To enable Remote Desktop through registry, first go to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlTerminal Server. In the right hand pane, find the key fDenyTSConnections and change the value to 0 to enable Remote Desktop sharing. If you wish to enable Network Level Authentication, go to registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlTerminalServerWinStationsRDP-Tcp and in the right hand pane, find the key UserAuthentication, and change the value to 1.
Using Graphical User Interface is one of the simplest methods. To enable Windows Remote Desktop graphically, first run by pressing 'Windows Key + R'. Type the command 'systempropertiesremote' in the Run dialog box. Windows Remote Desktop Connection Properties would then be displayed. Under Desktop box, select either 'Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop' or 'Allow connections from computers running Remote Desktop with network level authentication'. This would help enable Remote Desktop in the Windows 7 Operating System.
