Windows® 7 Audio Glitch
One of the most harder technical challenge is to deliver excellent audio playback on a PC. Computers have a lot going on during playback of audio unlike dedicated audio/video devices and this playback happens on an unbelievable array of hardware and software. Most of you might be aware about ‘glitches’ that usually happen. This article tells about some of the engineering in Windows 7 to improve the glitches area.
If you use your Windows 7 PC to play an DVD or a MP 3 then you are among the heavy majority of PC customers who use their computer for Audio and Video Applications, including everything from viewing a YouTube clip to watching a movie to playing a game. But sometimes the audio or video quality is not good, perhaps due to faltered audio. This is called audio glitch' which is an alleged discontinuity in your audio or video that comes in between the playback experience. In this article we will be focusing on audio glitching and we will test the ecosystem challenges that can cause glitches.
Tools to Identify Glitching
Windows 7 Devices & Media Performance team has developed a comprehensive suite of tests that were centered around media playback scenarios and were designed to assess how well a PC performed at that scenario. These tests recorded thousands of statistics about the system's performance during the Media Playback which includes the activity of all components on the system and their corresponding interactions, CPU load and whether glitching occurred, among other things. We deliberately covered a large number of scenarios and configurations which include hardware under stress, hundreds of media content types, laptops running on battery power and many more. The main concern was to exercise each PC in different user scenarios in order to uncover and separate audio glitches.
Ultimately, Microsoft and all its partners share a common customer base and partners. Focusing on these issues and providing more attention on the causes of audio glitching, Microsoft continues to improve the audio experience for everyone.
