So, in order to log on to that system which is present in the workgroup, you would need an account on that system. It is seen that there are not more than twenty systems in a workgroup. The other thing to note is that the workgroup is not being protected by any password. In the Windows 7, you could be able to create and join the workgroup. The file and the printer sharing on the home network would get turn on automatically.
Firstly, click 'Start' and then click 'Properties' of My Computer. Under the computer name, domain and the workgroup settings, you need to click the 'Change settings'. If you are prompted, enter the administrator password for the confirmation. Then, in the dialogue box of System Properties, you would click the tab called 'Computer name'. Then, you have to click 'Change'. Look the Computer Name/Domain Changes dialog box. In that, below the Member of, you would click the 'Workgroup' and have to do any one. If you want to create the workgroup, you need to enter the name of workgroup and have to click 'OK'.
