How to make a shortcut for locking the screen in Windows 7?
Microsoft Windows allows you to lock your screen, so that others cannot access your computer without entering your password. This is really very useful, especially at times when you need to be away from your computer and do not want other people to use it or access your documents.
Locking the screen is a great way of protecting your information from unauthorized users. Once you have locked your screen, it can only be accessed either by you or by the administrators group.
The following steps will walk you through locking your screen in your Windows 7-based PC. Here’s how you can follow these steps and
- Right-click on a blank area on the desktop, choose New, and then click Shortcut.
- In the location field, type “rundll32.exeSpaceuser32.dll,SpaceLockWorkStation” into the shortcut textbox. This is case sensitive, so make sure you type it exactly as shown here.
- Enter a name for the shortcut, and then click Finish. It will create a seemingly normal icon that you can use to impress, or even trick your friends.
- You can double click the shortcut icon to lock your computer screen.
