Removal of Windows® 7 Boot Loader
What is boot loader? Discuss the purpose of using it and the steps to remove it from Windows 7 system.
The boot loader is a set of instructional codes, that runs before any operating system runs. The main advantage of a boot loader is the simultaneous running of more than one Operating System in a single system. To say more technically, there are some program codes or data, which are used by the system to load the minimum configuration files. These sequences of programs, which are into RAM, are boot loader. A boot loader is used to load other programs in RAM. Multiple stage boot loaders are used in which chains of programs are loaded. There are some specific tasks of boot loader. The first is INT 0x10 for screen output and INT 0x16 for the keyboard input. The INT 0x13 is for the I/o of disc and a specific space in hard drive is reserved for boot loader. The INT 0x15 does many BIOS functions. They move data to extended memory to disable the A20 gate and to calculate memory size. Therefore, a boot loader gives you the freedom to run different operating system in a single system.

Benefit of boot loader
A boot loader is included with RAM and you do not have to load it separately or get a copy of it when the system crashes. A boot loader helps in accessing drives that are outside the data storage. For a small system, it is included with the operating system and has limited role. However, in large systems you do not have to recompile BIOS all the time you load in to the system.
Removal of boot loader
Go to the System in the administrator account and click 'Manage' option by right clicking Computer. Now right click 'Windows 7 partition' to delete the boot loader of Windows 7. Then, you need to click on 'Allocated space' and select 'Extend volume' to add the required volume. Navigate through the process by entering the amount of space in MB. Now, you must start the system with the boot loader of operating system you want to load exclusively.
A boot loader consists of three programs. The boot sector program, which is of 512 bytes is loaded by BIOS at boot time. The boot sector program loads the second stage program. The boot loader installer is used to install the boot loader and to launch second stage program onto the boot disc.
