Windows® 7 Boot Error
What are the common boot errors faced in Windows 7?
Windows 7 displays a lot of boot errors and as the name suggests it interferes when the system boots and brings inconvenience to users. Boot errors usually occur when there is a problem in loading the operating system.
The following points will provide a better understanding of Windows 7 boot errors:
- Boot “Error Code 5”
- “Win7 WinPE Boot Manager Error 0xc000000f Your browser may not support display of this image” error
- Error “Unmountable drive”
- Boot Error when changing hard disk
Boot “Error Code 5”
The users usually face this issue if Windows 7 is downloaded from Internet and burnt in DVD. If the user tries to install Windows 7 then “Error Code 5” is displayed. Initially it might turn up as “BOOTMGR is missing”. Even if you format the hard disk it would not help. To resolve the issue start the installation by inserting the CD and press any key, click repair option from installation type and in the system recovery command window type in commands, “BOOTREC /FIXMBR”. Then enter “BOOTREC /FIXBOOT” and finally “BOOTREC /REBUILDBCD”. Afterwards follow system restore from the same repair window.
“Win7 WinPE Boot Manager Error 0xc000000f Your browser may not support display of this image” error
During the booting of Windows 7 in a 64 bit operating system the error known as “Win7 WinPE Boot Manager Error 0xc000000f Your browser may not support display of this image” occurs. To resolve it, when the system creates “winpe” directory copy the address “c:\winpe\winpe.wim C:\winpe\iso\sources \boot.wim” and put it on “boot.wim” to rename it and the system would boot.
Error “Unmountable drive”
When the system gives Blue Screen with “Unmountable drive” error , and safe mode and repair is of no help then it actually signifies that the hard drive is failing. To resolve it boot the system to repair mode and type in the command prompt, “bootsect /nt60 ALL”. Restart the computer. If the issue is still prominent reinstall Windows 7.
Boot Error when changing hard disk
When removable hard disk are used with Windows and are changed the system does not start up and the screen becomes black. Even safe mode does not help. The primary reason is driver conflict and to resolve it, start, run and type in “devmgmt.msc”. Click on sound, video and game controllers, click on sound card and properties. And disable it. Use the same process to disable modem, network card and CD ROM. Restart the computer and run “msconfig”, hide all Microsoft services and disable all start up. Restart the system and check whether the issue persists or not.
