Role of IPv6
IPv6 is the latest address protocol available. It is one of the principal communication protocols. This protocol is used for the purpose of transferring data across the network by using the Internet Protocol Suite. It would deliver datagrams from a particular source to a destination host. This process is based on the addresses of the host. IPv6 would have ability to simplify the assignment of the address and would also have a feature called network renumbering, when you change the providers of Internet connectivity.
Need to disable
Even though IPv6 has replaced IPv4, in some situations, activating IPV6 on your system would cause the conflicts within the network communication. This is a major issue to be considered. It is seen that some of the communication providers, those who distribute WiMAX protocols, would give advice to disable the IPv6 on your system. In addition, it is seen that there would be communication conflicts on the hardware routers also which are supporting the IPv6. This is when IPv6 is enabled on the Operating System. Hence, you need to disable the IPv6 in the Windows Registry.
You could be able to disable IPv6 by unchecking that from Local Area Network Properties window. But it would get enabled after restart. To disable permanently, firstly, open the registry editor. After that, you have to navigate to _LOCAL_MACHINE, SYSTEM, CurrentControlSet, services, TCPIP6 and Parameters key. Then, you need to right click on the Parameters which is in the left sidebar. Then, you would choose New and from that, DWORD (32-bit) Value. In the next window, you have to name that as DisabledComponents. You have to set the value of that component 5 to 0 and then, click OK. After that, you need to make sure that you restart your system.
