7 ways to improve the performance of business computers
The productivity of a business is adversely affected if the computers installed at the company don’t perform up to the mark. There could be several reasons for a slow computer. In an article published by Mashable, Chris Cope, CEO of SlimWare Utilities, describes 7 easy to follow tips to speed up business computers. Here’s a lowdown of the suggestions made by Chris.
Reduce the time taken by a PC to boot
As we install more and more programs, the boot up time taken by a computer increases. One of the reasons for this is that some software unnecessarily load automatically at start up, thus, consuming system resources. This slows down the computer. Chris suggests that the ‘MSCONFIG’ utility can be used in Windows 7 to configure which programs should run at system start up. This will speed up the computer’s performance.
Defragment the hard disk
Another great tip from Chris is that users should regularly defragment the computer’s hard disk. Over a period of time as we save files, the hard disk stores information at fragmented locations. Due to this, the time taken by the hard disk to save and retrieve data increases. In Windows, the inbuilt utility – Disk Defragmenter can be used for disk defragmentation.
Chris also recommends to delete the junk files, install updates, uninstall unnecessary programs, deploy an antivirus, and use PC optimization tools to speed up business computers.
