It’s advisable to create hard drive partitions in Windows 7 or for that matter any other operating system because of several reasons. Most importantly, Windows 7 partitions can be useful in case your PC is infected by a virus. Usually, viruses infect only the hard drive partition on which the operating system is installed. If you are unable to fix the virus issue, just format that partition and reinstall the operating system. Files stored on other partitions in Windows 7 remain unaffected. But if there were no partitions, the whole hard drive would be infected.

With simple steps and screenshots, you just need to follow the instructions to create partitions. To make a partition in Windows 7, first you will have to allocate free space. After this, you can create the partition from the free space and assign a drive letter. The NTFS file system should preferably be used.
