Discuss Aero® in Windows® 7
What are the requirements for new Aero technologies in Windows 7?
The Microsoft has released the Windows 7 with the enhanced Windows Aero, which is a graphical user interface and the default theme in Windows 7. Windows Aero was first introduced in the Windows Vista Operating System of the Windows. The user interface of the Windows Aero is more powerful, aesthetic and delightful. Live thumbnails, icons, animations make it more attractive. Notifications in the Windows Aero creates pop–up window of an application or a system component with some information about the event or problem enabling the user to understand the present status in the application without fully opening the application. The default font used in the Windows Aero is the Segoe UI typeface with a font size of 9 pt by default.
Features and minimum requirements of the Windows Aero are:
- Aero Peek
- Aero Snap
- System requirements
The Microsoft has revised the Windows Aero feature in the Windows 7 with better user interface changes and Aero Peek is one among them. Aero Peek allows the user to see the current status in any application or folder that is opened and kept minimized in the Windows. It also provides preview of the program when you hover over the thumbnail of the program. Aero Peek is found as a small, rectangular area just to the right of the clock at the right edge of the task bar and is a great replacement for the 'Show Desktop' icon in the previous versions of the Windows.
Aero Snap feature allows the user to dock the half-sized application to the left or to the right side of the screen. You could fix the window of the application to the right or left side of the desktop by just clicking and dragging the window. If you snap the window to the top the window would be maximized. The Aero Snap also increases its user friendliness by allowing the user to resize the window to the touch the top edge and you would get the window maximized while the width is still retained.
You can use the Windows Aero in the Windows 7 Operating System. You would need a 32-bit or 64-bit processor with a speed of 1GHz, RAM memory of 1GB and 15 GB hard drive space to install the Windows Aero. To get all the graphical interfaces, you would need a DirectX 9 compatible graphics processor with a Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) driver. An audio output and Internet access is also preferred to get the best out of the Windows Aero.
