Before the installation of Windows 7 you must check the system requirements. You can install Windows 7 only in an Intel based Mac computer. You should have an updated Boot Camp Utility in your Mac OS. You can download updates from the official site of Apple. At least 20 GB free disk space should be available for Windows 7 installation. Finally, you should have two Operating System installation discs for this process. One is Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard or Mac OS X Snow Leopard installation disc and the second is an authentic 32-bit or 64-bit Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional, or Windows 7Â Ultimate disc. Without these requirements don’t even think of installing Windows 7 in your Mac computer.
Creating partition for Windows 7
After checking the requirements, you have to create a partition for Windows 7 installation. For creating a partition, Mac Utility Software, Boot Camp Assistant will help you. For that you have to open 'Boot Camp Assistant'. For opening 'Boot Camp Assistant' you must first open 'Applications'. From the opened list select 'Utilities'. You can see 'Boot Camp Assistant' there. Open it. Read and follow the instructions for creating partition and create a partition with space not less than 20 GB. After completing the partition process you will see a 'BOOTCAMP' drive on your desktop. Now the space for installing Windows 7 is ready.
After you create the 'BOOTCAMP' drive, insert Windows 7 DVD and click the 'Start Installation' button. As the installation procedure will begin your Mac computer will restart and Windows 7 will boot. From the upcoming 'Option' window select 'BOOTCAMP'. Then format it by clicking on the 'Format' button given in the 'Option' window. After that proceed to the installation by selecting appropriate options from the 'Option' window. The system may reboot during the installation procedure. After completing the installation remove the Windows 7 disc from the drive. After the installation procedure for Windows 7, some of the features such as sound etc may not work properly. This is because of the improper installation of drivers. For that insert your Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard disc and then select 'Run setup.exe'. Boot Camp Installer will launch and continue the procedure by reading instructions carefully. Make sure that the 'Apple software update' for Windows is checked in the installation process. This process will install the required drivers. After completing the installation you will be prompted to reboot the system. Remove the Mac OS disc and reboot the system. It will complete the Windows 7 installation process.
