Windows® 7 Bugs
Did you know the common Windows 7 problems and how to fix them?
Windows 7 is the latest version of Microsoft Windows operating system. It is used in personal computers, laptops, net books, etc. Though Windows 7 is faster than Windows Vista, there are few bugs associated with it. Windows 7 has various upgrade problems, interface issues, and factors that seem to have disappeared entirely and many other complications. Here are few problems came across by the users.
The solutions to fix it are:
Windows Vista upgrade hanging
DVD drive not found
Aero is not running
Change in Custom Icons
Windows Vista upgrade hangs
Windows Vista can be upgraded to Windows 7 online. The most common issue associated with Windows7 upgrading is the process hangs at 62% or some other point. Microsoft says this is caused because of Iphlpsvc service has stopped responding, and just adding an environment variable to ignore it will fix the problem. You can go to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/97253 for the fix. If this does not help, then browse the set-up log for any other clues.
Desktop.ini is a bog associated with all Windows operating system. This bog appears when Windows start and it is sometimes annoying. You may get this pop-up notepad message for the first time when your computer is infected by the virus. To remove Desktop.ini Bog on Windows 7; Go to run > type in “Shell common startup”, you will see desktop.ini, simply delete it and try to restart the computer or log off and log on again to see if the solution has been effective.
DVD drive not found
Your drive will be visible in the BIOS and you are using a standard driver but it may not be detected by Windows7. The standard solutions is to run “REGEDIT”, browse to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\current control set\control\class\,” then delete both upper filters and lower filters in the right-hand pane. Ignore the Upper Filter.bak and Lower Filter.bak entities. If this solution does not fix the problem, try to reset the drive letter. Click start, type Disk management and choose the "Create and Format Hard disk partitions" link. If your optical drive is visible here then right click it, select change drive letter and paths, click change and choose a new letter. If the drive is now visible in Internet Explorer, then repeat the process to change the drive letter back; if it is still not visible, reboot and it should reappear.
AERO theme problem
For the best transparency of Windows 7 you have fully enable Aero theme on your system. Click “Start”, type Aero, choose the "Find and fix problems with transparency and other visual effects" link, and click “Next” to launch the Aero trouble shooting wizard. It will try to identify and resolve the problems. If it does not solve the problem try to install the latest drivers for your graphics hardware. “HKEY/_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM” and make sure to Enable Aero peck is set to 1, rather than 0. Aero peck helps to make open Windows transparent to display your desktop underneath.
Change in custom icons
Microsoft website has great selection of Windows 7 theme. By installing them your custom icon for your Computer or Recycle Bin will be replaced by an equivalent Icon from the Theme pack. To prevent this, right click an empty part of Desktop, select Personalize > Change Desktop Icons, clear the "Allow themes to Change Desktop Icons" box and click “OK”. Now you can only change them by manually, from the same Desktop Icons dialog box.
There are problems associated with Windows 7 which can be solved. But the major problem is flaws in NTFS driver stack which may result in rebooting of the system. Presently there is no solution for this problem however Microsoft team is trying to fix this fatal bog.
