Reasons for Quick Launch bar missing
There are some specific reasons for which the Quick Launch bar has been disabled in Windows 7. It is much difficult to differ between an open application and pinned application in the Quick Launch bar and may result in opening unwanted applications. The pinned applications are usually mixed together with open applications. These pinned icons take up much space in the desktop and the screen space is wasted with this. These pinned applications are treated as running applications except that these are static and behave like launch buttons.
Steps to add Quick Launch bar
You need to spend a little time in adding Quick Launch bar in Windows 7 Taskbar. To start adding, you need to right-click on the desktop and then point to the Toolbar to select the New Toolbar. You can then get the New toolbar opened in which you need to select the Choose a Folder dialog box. In the Folder box, type in %userprofile%AppDataRoamingMicrosoftInternet Explorer and then press the Enter key. Next, you need to click the Quick Launch and then click the Select Folder button in it. With this, you get the Quick Launch toolbar displayed in the right side of your Windows 7 taskbar. You can get it from the left of the system tray.
As you select a new folder, you need to ensure that the location bar is displaying the full path. You may get the Quick Launch bar on the right side of the task bar and you are given the freedom to decide where to locate it. For this, you need to just click on dotted lines and drag the Quick Launch bar to left. Before you attempt to move it, ensure that the taskbar is unlocked.
