Windows® 7 TRIM support
What is Windows 7 TRIM support and how could one enable TRIM support for SSD in Windows 7? Explain the ways to enable it.
TRIM might also be referred to as SSD optimizer. SSD stands for solid state drive. TRIM is supported in Windows 7 for maximizing the life of a flash disk or SSD storage card. When a solid state drive is present, Windows 7 might disable disk defragmentation, Super fetch, ReadyBoost, and boot and application launch perfecting. Windows 7 is the best and latest Operating System which is released by Microsoft. So, many new features are included in this Operating System. Other features include desktop icons, desktop background, and the desktop slideshow settings. A new control panel interface is accessible through the 'Personalize' context menu item which is on the desktop.

TRIM support for Windows 7
TRIM is a command which helps the Operating System to inform a solid-state drive which blocks data that are no longer in use. This command is used in the Operating System, to remove the invalid data blocks on solid-state drives (SSD). The role of TRIM is to improve the speed of SSD drives and boost the drives' overall read and write performance. The operating system as well as SSD firmware must support TRIM.
Enable the AHCI drive
Check that the BIOS is running the controller in AHCI mode to get TRIM. To verify that click on the Start, then right click Computer and select Manage. Under Computer Management, select System Tools and go to Device Manager, then Expand 'IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers' and check if there is an entry 'Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller'.
Ensure that your SSD disk is aligned. You could test it using AS SSD utility. Then set controller mode in BIOS to AHCI to enable NCQ and increase the random read performance by a factor 10. The space on the SSD (optional with TRIM) is used to increase performance and lower degradation over time. TRIM is not supported in RAID configuration for SSDs in Windows 7.
