Are you having problems with Microsoft® Windows® 7 USB Autoplay?
What is autoplay feature of USB devices that are connected to Windows 7?
AutoPlay lets you to set the AutoPlay settings for all media and devices. With this option you can also change which applications to use and to start different kinds of media, such as music CDs or DVDs that contain photos. For example, you can set the auto play for Software and Games CDs to start the installation or other such processes automatically. Whenever you insert a CD in CD drive in to the system, you could see an .exe program run automatically. This feature is known as autoplay. If this feature you cannot open the files automatically, as this will give you a pop up window to enable the files. Autoplay.inf is the main instruction file connected with the Autoplay function. This is a text based file that gives instructions to the user to start the files or to make use of some particular buttons. In other words this actually tells Windows how to read the files from the CD or the USB that the user inserted in to the system.
Following are the details about the autoplay feature in Windows 7 and USB:
- Enable autoplay in Windows 7
- Disable autoplay in Windows 7
- Autoplay in USB

Autoplay in USB
The USB device must not be marked as removable media if you want to enable the autoplay option in USB. The application file and the .inf files are necessary to start the autoplay option. If this does not contain any such files, then it will be too difficult to add that .inf file into the USB. You can use some types of software which do this task as the autoplay feature in USB has the same effect in Windows 7 which will launch programs automatically.
